FQ FILMS TO SPONSOR QUEER FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS

FQ Films will sponsor the Audience Award for Best Film at both the 2009 Mardi Gras Film Festival (Sydney, Feb 19-Mar 5) and the 19th Melbourne Queer Film Festival (Mar 18-29).

Proudly owned and operated by Beyond Home Entertainment, FQ Films is Australia’s leading queer cinema label. Founded in 2005, the FQ DVD range has quickly become the largest and most popular collection of gay and lesbian cinema in the country, with over 75 award-winning and critically lauded titles in the catalogue.

The inaugural FQ Films Audience Award will be announced at the end of each festival. The awards will be judged by the general public, who will be encouraged to vote for their favourite film after each screening. A cash prize of $5,000 will be presented to the director of the winning film.
